First Annual Fisher Simulation Competition Sponsored by Shell, TLA and OLMA

We are excited to announce that the TLA will be hosting a simulation competition along with Shell and the Operations and Logistics Management Association.

In the spring, Friday April 27th and Saturday April 28th, TLA will be collaborating with the Operations and Logistics MBA and the Masters of Business Logistics Engineering to offer a simulation case competition. The masters students will not be competing against undergrads, and there will be total cash prizes of $3,000.

There will be limited room for 8 undergraduate teams, each with 4-6 members, that will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Participants from all majors are welcome.

Each team of 4-5 will have to pay a $25 entrance fee and each team of 6 will be charged $26.

JOB TITLE:

Operations Intern

 

DEPARTMENT:

Operations , BBW, VSB, International

 

REPORTS TO:

Sr. Planner or Manager, Operational Planning

 

OVERVIEW:

Individual contributor paid internship opportunity responsible for one or more Summer Internship Project(s).  May assist in the management of the day to day business of production from the PO placement to arrival in the DC.   Monitor, track and report on the status of product from the placement of purchase orders through allocation for stores.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Vendor Management 

  • Tracking & timely movement of inventory (finished goods & components & WIPS)
  • Assist with Portal transactions (ESS, Fillers & Suppliers) / troubleshoot issues (blocked invoices)
  • Sending out vendor scorecard to each filler/supplier for Operations team (weekly) as needed

 

Inventory Management

  • Tracking & timely movement of inventory (finished goods, components & WIPS)
  • Expediting component shipments (w/LLS) & communicating with planners impact on production
  • Assist ESS with Physical Inventory; attend & provide support to resolve issues

 

Transaction/Data Management

  • Assist ESS (A/P & IC) & DC (LLS) with issue resolution
  • Place PO’s for Turnkey and/or Managed as related to potential stretch opportunities
  • Assist with PO date management as required

 

Reporting

  • Others, as required (ad hoc)

 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Available for a 10 week program – full time (40 hours per week) internship opportunity.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college / university; preferred 3rd year level
  • Preferred majors include: Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Retail Merchandising
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required

Sears Holding Corporation is currently recruiting for Logistics Management Interns, here is some information about the program.

Logistics Management Internship (@ distribution centers in Columbus, OH) – Our diverse distribution network is responsible for warehousing and transporting goods from home appliances, health & beauty products to the clothing you see displayed in our stores, to the right locations at the right times. You will get hands-on experience right where the action is – the distribution center. This 10-week assignment is designed to give you a feel for the logistics/distribution industry and the culture of Sears Holdings Corporation. Our management interns spend their 10-week session working in one of our distribution centers learning and participating first-hand in the daily operations of a DC. You will work directly with DC supervisors and managers to develop your knowledge of the business requirements and your leadership skills. You will rotate through the various operational departments including shipping, receiving, order-filling, loss prevention, human resources and other support areas to get a broad view of the logistics/distribution industry. Your training will include formal and informal evaluations and will culminate in a presentation to DC management on the learnings and insights gained over the 10-week session. Successful completion of your internship may lead to full-time employment after graduation in our individually tailored Logistics Management Training Program. The Logistics Management Training Program has rigorous standards that require your hard work and dedication. It is a rotational program that will coach you on the intricacies of running our business while preparing you to become one of our future leaders. After you complete your training, you will be assigned to your first management position in one of our field locations.
